ICI Education Programs Overview

ICI offers five certificate programs:

• Fundamental: Basic intelligence concepts and methods

Each certificate is fully accredited through partnership with a German university, providing credits under the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).

Target Participants

Participants typically have 5-10 years of work experience and have recently become responsible for market and competitive intelligence functions. They often come from engineering, scientific, product management, or market research backgrounds seeking specialized intelligence training.

The program accommodates working professionals, with 99% of participants remaining employed while completing their studies. Flexible scheduling allows participants to spread coursework over multiple years if needed.

Application Process

The program requires a formal application including a personal interview to ensure proper alignment between participant expectations and program content. Early registration is recommended, with English-language programs beginning in mid-November and German-language programs scheduled for Spring 2026.

Program Modules

The Competitive Intelligence Strategy Certificate (CCS) includes five workshop modules:

Module 1: Competitor Strategy Analysis (1 day)

Focuses on analyzing competitor strategies rather than developing internal strategies, providing frameworks for understanding competitive positioning and intentions.

Module 2: Business Wargaming (1 day)

Covers simulation techniques for competitive situations using team-based exercises. Participants learn to anticipate competitor reactions to strategic initiatives and develop counter-strategies.

Module 3: Strategic Market Analysis (1 day)

Addresses market sizing, share analysis, and trend identification. Covers methodologies including Delphi approaches, market research techniques, forecasting, and time series analysis.

Modules 4-5: Dynamic Competitive Strategy Development (2 days)

Comprehensive strategy development from planning through implementation, incorporating frameworks from Porter, Kim Chan, D'Aveni, and other strategic thinkers. Covers both theoretical foundations and practical application.
