| ICI Director Michaeli receives SCIP’s Fellow Award |

Erik Glitman, heading the award committee, emphasized Michaeli’s ongoing successful career as an author, practitioner and teacher. Through his engagement in developing Competitive Intelligence, many practitioners have received guidance and support in developing a career in Competitive Intelligence. From SCIP's Laudatio: "Rainers contribution to the Competitive Intelligence profession is extensive both in quality and quantity. He has pioneered applied methods of qualifying analytical processes, has written extensively on Competitive Intelligence problems, has published articles in SCIP and other publications. He is considered an authority on Competitive Intelligence both in its academic and practical applications. He is director of the Institute for Competitive Intelligence which not only conducts Competitive Intelligence training in Europe, North and South America, the Middle East and Africa, but is recognized as a Competitive Intelligence certifying authority conferring certificates of proficiency in the theory and practice of Competitive Intelligence. In 2005 he formed the Deutsches Competitive Intelligence Forum e.V. (DCIF), SCIP’s German affiliate, and until recently served as its president. DCIF initiated the involvement of MBA students in Germany, Switzerland, and other countries in Competitive Intelligence projects and essay competitions to enhance the recognition of Competitive Intelligence as an academic and professional discipline. Other Fellow Award recipients 2009 are Mileana Motta (ICI faculty) and Tim Kindler (Kodak) To-date only a few non-US citizens have received the prestigious Fellow Award and Michaeli is the first German to be presented with this award. In 2003 Michaeli also received SCIP’s Catalyst Award, honoring his contributions to the internationalization of Competitive Intelligence.
