SCIP, the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals, surprised its members at the start of May with a remarkable circular letter. It announced that there would be a vote to decide whether Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals should enter into a merger with Frost & Sullivan Institute, a non-profit organization, or whether Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals should cease its activities in the short term.

Certainly MicroSoft’s Sharepoint has developed over recent years into a powerful tool for collaboration. As Competitive Intelligence communities seek these backbone functions for exchange of documents, discussion forums or information portals, many Competitive Intelligence departments have looked into or even implemented MS Sharepoint based Competitive Intelligence portals. Even MS’s official website showcases a neat looking Competitive Intelligence Portal.

During Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals Annual Conference 2009 in Chicago, Prof Craig Fleisher received the Meritorious Award.
Each year Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals recognizes up to one individual who has made significant and meritorious contributions to the Competitive Intelligence profession. The Meritorious Award is the highest honour bestowed by the Society.

The 2009 spring final exam for the Certificate of Proficiency in Competitive Intelligence – CPCI™ - took place at the DOLCE, Bad Nauheim at the 26th of February.
Per Institute for Competitive Intelligence exam guideline candidates had to attend 28 workshop days and successfully submit a thesis prior to exam registration.
